Some comics and manwhas allowing a dive in the past and present of the Korean peninsula, divided between communist North Korea and democratic South Korea. It could be ancient history, but this story is still "hot." Issues related to the Second World War in Asia are still subjects of contention. So it is with the recognition by Japan of its responsibility in what the army called in Japanese "comfort women .

Another difficult issue, the Korean War that pitted the North and South 1950a 1953. The massacre at the bridge Ni Gun Ri explores a little known side of the war, the massacre Korean civilians fleeing the U.S. military fearing communist spies. Manhwa is a challenging but still retains the atmosphere of the beginning of the war, when invasion of the North by the South, while these are the U.S. troops already stationed there. It's published by Vertigo Graphic.
Another manhwa, The visitor South , subtitled 
"Mr. Oh's trip to North Korea", is much later in time. Mr. Oh is a Southern engineer who comes to work on a construction site in the North. This is an opportunity to revisit complicated relationships between North and South since 1945 . The author Oh Yeong Jin is just a kind of Guy Delisle who speak Korean .... A sequel is announced, in Flblb forever.

Somewhat in the same vein but not by a Korean author, I also recommend the very funny and very Interestingly Pyongyang Quebecer Guy Delisle.
A book has upset South Korea in the 1960s, this is the diary of Lee Youn-bok : Grief in the sky. He was then 10 years old and trying to survive in misery. This newspaper, already in the film, has been a manhwa by Lee Hee-jae in 1990. Read more ...
A war between Korea and Japan. This is the scenario imagined by nationalist rather Ya Sul Lok and set design by Lee Yun Se. The oil becomes scarce (so far ...), nothing fictitious stoking tensions between Asian countries. In Indonesia, the Moluccas ( Makalu), rich in oil, is the scene of a confrontation between the government and a separatist movement supported by Japan. It hopes to achieve this effect movement of the concession Oil entrusted to Korean firms.
